Under CERT Reg. 2.1.15.1, the Certification Department include Law courses under the umbrella of Contemporary Studies and be able to accept nine full university courses in Law as a "Specified Subject Area". This change will be effective September 1, 2002. Previously, Law courses were not acceptable for a concentration in Contemporary Studies.
Under CERT Reg. 2.1.15.1, the Certification Department include Philosophy courses under the umbrella of Contemporary Studies and be anble to accept nine full university courses in Philosophy as a "Specified Subject Area".
This change will be effective September 1, 2002. Acceptable courses for a specified subject area in Contemporary Studies:
- Anthropology
- Economics
- Law
- Philosophy
- Political Science
- Psychology
- Sociology

Specified Subject Area
Specified subject area refers to a subject in which an Honour Specialist qualification is indicated on a Certificate of Qualification by the Ontario College of Teachers (see O.Reg. 184/97, Schedule E).
