Will I be paid?
No. The Federation is seeking volunteers however we will cover all travel and accommodation costs during your trip and during the follow-up work.
What kind of time commitment will I have to make?
We aim to have a one day orientation meeting in late June. The actual trip itself will be two weeks long and the following curriculum writing may last one school year.
How much time would be required for curriculum writing upon return? Would curriculum writing take place during the summer or academic year?
Very little writing would happen during the summer and it could carry on into the next school year for three to nine months depending on how productive the team is and what final lessons they want to design.
Would curriculum writing for Common Threads take place in Toronto, other specific location or would it occur online?
Initially, all Common Threads meetings would take place at OSSTF Provincial Office at 60 Mobile Drive, Toronto, ON. Curriculum writing itself could happen in hometowns and shared electronically. Our last team met on at least six occasions in Toronto and they agreed to meet at one of our members' homes a few times to get the work done. It is flexible and up to the team.
Do I have to have all of the skills to be a member of the team?
No but the team members combined must have all of the skills required to complete the project.
How many people would be attending?
We are looking for a team of no more than five members.
Will I need vaccinations?
Yes.
Do I have to be in good physical health?
Yes. Generally, the team will be travelling a great distance and often hold two lengthy meetings per day.
