Ted Talks
June 1, 2012 — TED is a non-profit organization devoted to ideas worth spreading. It is a collection of talks from inspired thinkers from around the world who are given no longer than 18 minutes (some as short as 2 minutes) to present their topic in the most engaging and innovative ways they can think of. There are talks on various topics and themes applicable to many courses and situations. TED talks are highly accessible with translations into over 60 different languages (through subtitles), as well as free apps for iPad, iPhone, Android, and webOS. TED talks can certainly be used with students in grades nine through twelve.
In an interesting TED talk about perspectives, Derek Sivers explores the idea that there is a flip side to everything in a succinct yet entertaining manner. This 2 minute talk could easily be incorporated into a lesson or presentation, and is valuable to audiences of all ages.
