Bitstrips for Schools
August 1, 2012 — Bitstrips for Schools is a very user friendly site where the educational worker creates a class and the activity and students then log on to work on it. It is available in English and French. There are some pre-programmed activities for common themes such as Earth Day, Black History Month or bullying. Creating comic strips with setting and dialogue is a fun and engaging way for students to learn. There is a huge database of characters with actions and emotions, scenes, and props or you can import your own.
For the educator, it tracks who has submitted assignments, who is in progress and who has not started. There are student permission settings to ensure safety and control. Bitstrips won Best in E-Learning at the Digis Awards last year.
